A face-to-face foundation support program for children who need help with sounds, syllables, words, blending, spelling, reading confidence, writing readiness, counting, order, matching, and early number sense.
Through Tunog at Pantig for Filipino, Jolly Phonics for English, and Bite-Size Montessori Number Foundations, we help children build learning foundations step by step in a caring small-group setting.
Built from our Santa Barbara literacy experience, including our Bite-Size Montessori summer program with 28 enrollees.
Tunog at Pantig, Jolly Phonics, and Bite-Size Montessori Number Foundations are designed to help children build stronger foundations in a clear, step-by-step, and child-friendly way. The program supports early readiness, sound awareness, pantig, beginning reading, pre-writing, counting, quantity awareness, order, and early number sense.
Some children still need readiness in listening, sound awareness, tracing, hand control, matching, sequencing, and pre-writing. Others are already ready for pantig, salita, word reading, guided writing, counting, and number-symbol work. SCJ helps children receive support based on their actual readiness level.
Your child will learn to read, write, count, and build confidence in Filipino, English, and early number sense.
Children learn Filipino reading and writing through tunog, pantig, salita, simple sentences, and guided writing practice.
Children learn English reading through letter sounds, blending, spelling, word reading, and early reading confidence.
Children build number readiness through counting, matching, sorting, sequencing, quantity awareness, number symbols, and concrete-to-abstract activities.
Strong reading, writing, and number foundations help children understand lessons better, express themselves more clearly, solve simple problems, and become more confident learners.
In Montessori-inspired learning, reading, writing, and number readiness grow together. Children need movement, order, hand control, matching, sequencing, vocabulary, concentration, quantity awareness, and symbol recognition before they become confident readers, writers, and early math learners.
Children experience numbers through counting objects, comparing quantities, and seeing how number words connect to real things.
Children build order, classification, visual discrimination, and logical thinking through hands-on Montessori-inspired activities.
Children are introduced to number symbols, early problem-solving, and concrete-to-abstract preparation for arithmetic.
Santa Barbara SCJ offers structured, face-to-face foundation support for children in the community. Our goal is to give parents a practical and caring program that helps children improve reading, writing, counting, number readiness, and learning confidence in both Filipino and English.
Children are grouped based on age, readiness, reading level, writing readiness, and early number sense, so they receive support that fits their needs.
For younger children who need preparation before formal reading, writing, and number instruction.
For children ready to begin sound-symbol work, syllables, words, counting, and early number work.
For children who already know some letters, words, or numbers but need stronger support and confidence.
To start smoothly, we will first open classes for children who are ready to begin reading and those who need extra reading, writing, and number readiness support. Classes for younger children ages 2.5 to 4 will be opened based on parent interest, children’s readiness, and available schedules.

Santa Barbara SCJ serves as a face-to-face pilot hub for Tunog at Pantig, Jolly Phonics, and Bite-Size Montessori Number Foundations. The tutorial service was created to help children build stronger foundations in sounds, syllables, words, reading confidence, writing readiness, counting, quantity, and early number sense.
Through this pilot, we aim to develop a practical model that can support parents, children, teachers, and learning centers not only in Santa Barbara, but eventually in other communities across the Philippines.
