Helping Solve Functional Illiteracy Through Proven Phonics Methods
1. What is the Jolly Phonics Pilot Program?
It is a free, one-year literacy program that introduces Jolly Phonics to selected public schools in the Philippines. The program includes teacher training, school materials, and ongoing support, aimed at addressing the country’s growing crisis in functional illiteracy among early grade learners.
2. Who is eligible to join the program?
Only public kindergarten and Grade 1 classes are eligible. Schools must be officially endorsed by their provincial or regional DepEd office, not by private entities or individuals.
3. What’s included in the pilot program?
- FREE Jolly Phonics materials (classroom and student use)
- FREE 2-day in-person training by a certified Jolly Trainer (led by Coral George)
- Independent evaluation support (quantitative + qualitative)
- Program support and mentoring throughout the school year
- Global recognition by Jolly Learning UK
4. Who covers the costs for training venue and teacher travel?
Participating DepEd offices are expected to underwrite:
- Training venue
- Teacher transportation to and from training
- Daily per diem for the 2-day training
5. When is the training scheduled?
The in-person training is planned for late November 2025 to early January 2026. Selected schools must be ready to send their teachers to the training before the end of October.
6. When does the pilot program begin?
The program will be officially launched at the start of the 2026–2027 school year (target month: July 2026).
7. Can private schools or tutorial centers apply?
No. This pilot is strictly limited to government/public schools. However, private schools and tutorial centers are welcome to connect with SEELS Teachers Academy and Jolly Phonics Philippines for access to teacher training and the purchase of official Jolly Phonics materials to implement the program independently.
8. What is the selection process for schools?
Interested teachers and school heads are encouraged to express interest. However, final selection must be coordinated and approved by provincial or regional DepEd authorities, in consultation with SEELS Teachers Academy.
9. Who conducts the teacher training?
Jolly Learning UK will send one of its most experienced trainers, Coral George, to lead the teacher training sessions in the Philippines.
10. What is expected from participating provinces?
- Endorsement of 6 public schools per province (1 class each)
- Coordination of training logistics and support
- Nomination of local academic evaluators (i.e., Masters in Education or Psychology students)
- Participation in nationwide literacy monitoring efforts
11. How do schools apply?
Schools must submit their application via the official form, with DepEd endorsement, by the deadline: October 31, 2025.

12. Who is organizing the program in the Philippines?
The program is organized by SEELS Teachers Academy in collaboration with Jolly Learning Ltd. UK and will be implemented under the banner of Jolly Phonics Philippines, the proposed official distributor and training partner.
